The above-mentioned ceremony was held
yesterday under the presidency of Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning
and Construction, H.E. Mr. Im Chhun Lim with the presence of Dr. Shin Eui
Cheol, KOICA Representative to Cambodia and other national and international
distinguished guests. The project, US$2.5 million-grant aid from KOICA, has
been implemented since 2010, said Dr. Shin Eui Cheol. He added that the
produced National Base Map is the data including geographical information for the
development of industrial plans like mapping, construction of road, dam,
airport and port and so on. This project is developed for the expansion of
Phnom Penh and other two tourist sites: Siem Reap and Sihanouk Ville, he continued.
In the occasion, the Minister also highly appreciated the project, adding that,
it will make significant contribution to the enhancement of the establishment
and use of geography with quality and effectiveness so as to facilitate working
implementation in many sectors such as land management and allocation, natural
resource management, natural catastrophe reduction for the sake of Cambodia’s
