Summary
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training (MLVT) and UNESCO continued to collaborate on the 4 years Basic Education Equivalency Programme (Beep) 2020-2023 which has so far benefitted more than 2,000 school dropouts across the 15 provinces, of which nearly 30% are female. This project aim at providing flexibility and alternative education options to out-of-school youth to complete lower secondary or basic education equivalent to grade 9. After the graduation, those students could attend the TVET program or continue to the Technical High School with free of charge. So far, there are six learning centers in Siem Reap, Battambang and Phnom Penh, bringing the total to 13. In 2020-2023, MoEYS and MLVT plan to create eight learning center more, four of them implemented by each of the two ministries.
