Ministry of Rural Development conducted press conference on Monday 17 Feb. 2020 regarding to Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene about that their achievement on 2019. MRD’s Secretary of State, H.E. Chan Darong, mentioned that up to the year 2019, the ministry has achieved 80% for population have toilet and 65% can access clean drinking water while the government aims to achieve 100% for both sector by 2025.

This Secretary of state mentioned that base on this figure and commitment of MRD, Cambodia can achieve the goal as planned. He highlighted that even though everything is on track, the behavior of some people still the concern for achieving the goal. Some people still don’t use toilet even they have it. “Some have toilets but move their bowels behind their houses. The toilets were not used. Sometimes we ask them why they do not use the toilet, and they answer that they are not used to doing so. “Using sanitary facilities is important. Some citizens understand it, but others move their bowels outdoors and bury it. This is not good and negatively affects health and can lead to diseases
