Ground Breaking Ceremony of CATC Building at Phnom Penh International Airport
PHNOM PENH: The Korea International Cooperation Agency, known as KOICA in short, in cooperation with the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) will organize the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a Cambodia Civil Aviation Training Center (CATC) at the Phnom Penh International Airport in the afternoon of February 13, 2015.
The ceremony will be highly co-presided over by H.E. Dr. Sok An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers and H.E. Kim Weon Jin, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia.
The event represents the kickoff of the construction of the CATC which was planned to be completed by May 2016, and followed by the center operation until 2017 with the total budget of ten million and one hundred thousand United States dollars (USD10, 100,000).
This project was requested by Royal Government of Cambodia to the Government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA Cambodia Office to (1) contribute to the sustainable socioeconomic development of the Royal Government of Cambodia through the establishment of the Civil Aviation Training Center and related capacity building programs to ensure safe, secure, efficient, quality and cost-effective international and domestic air transportation services in keeping with international standards; and (2)improve the quality and quantity of human resources and institutional capabilities for the effective management of Civil Aviation sector in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
According to the CATC construction plan, the building will consist of 4 floors (including the ground floor) such as Management Office, Education Office, Service Office and Public area.
Be noted that Cambodia is one of KOICA’s core partner countries in term of development cooperation. KOICA has been providing Cambodia with different type of aids like projects supports, training programs, and volunteer programs.
In Cambodia, KOICA has its country partnership strategy (CPS) that helps Royal Government of Cambodia achieve its national development goals, by integrating the strategy with Cambodia’s National Strategic Development Plan, and the government’s Rectangle Strategy. KOICA focuses on 4 priority sectors—rural development, health, education, and infrastructure. //The End//
