More RoK’s Assistance to the Field of Health in Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, June 10, 2011 –
The Republic of Korea has agreed to provide US$3.5 million in grant to Cambodia through the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to construct a new building and to rehabilitate old buildings in the Referral Hospital of Batheay district, Kampong Cham province.
The grant agreement was signed here this morning by Cambodian Health Minister Dr. Mam Bun Heng and KOICA Country Representative Mr. Shin Eui-cheol under the witness of Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Hor Namhong.
The grant is aimed at improving the capacity of Batheay Referral Hospital, Mrs. Or Vandy, Director of Health Ministry’s International Cooperation Department, told reporters after the signing ceremony.
The Korean side has also agreed to help build the capacity of the hospital’s health officials, she said.
For his part, Dr. Mam Bun Heng expressed profound thanks to the S. Korean government and people for their assistance to improve Cambodian people’s welfare in contribution to the development of Cambodia.
