KOICA and Ministry of Industry, Mine & Energy launch Workshop “Solar Hybrid Power System Project”
This seminar is related to Providing Electricity in Cambodia by Solar Power Energy System in two villages (Koh Slar in Kampot and Phnom Kulen in Siem Reap), which is a new model in transferring technology of solar energy to local people in Cambodia. The aim of this seminar is to share Korea’s technology and experience in the field of Solar Energy and provide technical consultations on the operation of solar power plants to be constructed in two villages.
H.E. SAT Samy, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, said that this seminar revealed the importance and potential of renewable energy technologies which are being used in some developed countries. It’s predicted that Renewable Energy might supply two-third of the world’s energy by 2100. He also mentioned that Renewable Energy is a peaceful energy resource that can be presented anywhere on earth.
Dr. Shin Eui-Cheol, Representative of KOICA Cambodia office, said that the workshop will help to improve knowledge of MIME officials in the area covered and in the field of interest. Moreover, he stressed out that all members who attend this seminar will fully absorb knowledge of new technology of hybrid solar power system which is a new model to be applied in Cambodia.
Be noted that, KOICA provides grant aid 2.2 million US$ for this project to improve the living condition of Cambodian people and contribute to their economic development by providing secure and sustainable clean energy. KOICA will continue to be a good cooperation partner for Cambodia’s development and especially, for the physical infrastructure construction with MIME.

Phnom Penh: Korea International Cooperation Agency, (KOICA) and the Ministry of Industry, Mines & Energy launched a Workshop on the “Project for Establishment of Solar Hybrid Power System” at Imperial Hotel on Thursday, May 26, 2011, with the participation of H.E. Dr. SAT Samy, Secretary of State, Ministry of Industry Mines & Energy, Dr. Shin Eui Cheol, Representative of KOICA Cambodia Office, some KOICA delegates and other government officials of the Ministry.
