Korea provides more than $7 million for the construction of Cambodia-Korea Cooperation Center
Phnom Penh: There was a Record of Discussion Signing Ceremony between the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and Korea International Cooperation Agency of the Republic of Korea to establish human resources development center which costs $7.45 million as part of Korea’s grant aid.
This Record of Discussion was signed by H.E. Im Sethy, Minister of Education, Youth and Sport and Dr. Shin Euicheol, Representative of KOICA office in Cambodia.
The ceremony was also honored by the presence of H.E. Chang Ho-Jin, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia.
This record of discussion is intended to strengthen capacity building of human resources development in Cambodia by providing human resources development program in order to reinforce the professional knowledge of professors and students at Royal University of Phnom Penh, and by improving the capacity of related government officials, teachers and instructors of relevant organizations.
The Cambodia-Korea Cooperation Center will be built for 5 years in the premise of Royal University of Phnom Penh.
Dr. Shin Euicheol stated that the project is expected to contribute to the economic development of Cambodia though human resources development, and promote mutual understanding between the two countries. He added that to ensure sustainability, KOICA will dispatch Korean experts to the center and invite related Cambodian officials to overseas training in the Republic of Korea.
H.E. Im Sethy, Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, expressed deep gratitude to Korea International Cooperation Agency of the Republic of Korea (KOICA) for donating the human resources development center which costs USD 7,450,000 in grant, just right in the time that Royal Government of Cambodia is implementing Rectangle Strategy Phase II.
H.E. Im Sethy added that this valuable assistance of the Republic of Korea clearly reflect [the relationship and cooperation] between the 2 countries.
