Phnom Penh: For 15 years, the Republic of Korea provides scholarship to Cambodian students and government officers at all the ministries at total of 1,306 persons.

Mr. Kim Byung-gwan, Representative of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) said at the seminar of the Cambodia Korea Alumni Association (CAMKAA) in Phnom Penh last Friday that “I believe that the most important way for developing a country’s socio-economy is to focus on human resources development”.  He went on to say that KOICA’s Development Cooperation Programs have made a significant contribution in this regard, with a total of 1,306 Cambodian participants invited to Korea from 1994 to 2008 for various training and study courses.

He continued that all of KOICA fellows present that day were witnesses to the value of those cooperation programs and human resources development, having visited Korea and shared with Korea’s economic, industrial, technological and management experience and expertise, as well as having had the opportunity to glimpse the history and culture of the country and its people.

Mr. Kim Byung-gwan continued to say that “You have all become dear friends of Korea by playing an invisible, but important role in linking our two countries closer together”.

Mr. Seng Setha, KOICA fellows and the vice president of the Cambodia Korea Alumni Association (CAMKAA) said that this year was the 8th year and the 2nd Seminar of our association in Exchanging Experiences of the Cambodia Korea Alumni Association. Moreover, we will celebrate the 2nd general congress to elect the official board members of this association on December, 2010.

He continued that this was the 2nd time that we organized seminar. The main goal of this seminar is to share experiences among members from one filed to another field and from one ministry to another ministry.

Four topics were presented in the seminar, and the presenters were from the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Ministry of Rural Development. (Yin Leangkong, Reporter)

  2. I want to know the detail about this scholarship including the availability of the candidates, the date for scholarship, and some more information about what the candidates grant after passing the scolarship.

I still wonder about the way of passing scholarship. Is it the voluntarily candidates choosing or ability testing?
