Phnom Penh:
The Korea International Cooperation Center (KOICA) together with the
Ministry of Education Youth and Sport (MoEYS) celebrated official
opening of the Cambodia Korea Cooperation Center (CKCC) at the Royal at
Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) on Wednesday, June 12, 2013.The
ceremony marked the successful completion of the Project for the
Establishment of a Human Resource Development Center in Cambodia by the
grant aid of $7.5 million from KOICA.
In
recognition of the contribution of the Republic of Korea for this
Project, H.E. Im Sethy, Minister of Ministry of Education, Youth and
Sport, awarded H.E. Kim Han Soo, ambassador of the Republic of Korea,
with the Grand Cross of Monisaraphon medal at the ceremony.
The CKCC, a
2-story building with modern design, sits on the northwest side of the
RUPP campus and will become a symbol of friendship and fruitful
cooperation between Cambodia and Korea. It currently houses the Korean
Language Department of the RUPP, and will host short-term classes and
seminars in ICT, business management and public administration, thereby
contributing to developing human resources in Cambodia. The computer lab
and conference rooms are equipped with the latest technology. The large
library and multimedia room will serve to better educate students. In
addition, the CKCC concert hall boasts one of the best lighting and
musical effect facilities in Phnom Penh.
KOICA
considers human resources development one of its key development
cooperation programs in Cambodia. KOICA will begin another project with
MoEYS later this year, for developing technical education at upper
secondary level.
