Phnom Penh: Ministry of Health (MoH) in
cooperation with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will
hold the hand-over ceremony for the successful completion of the Project
for the Strengthening of the Siem Reap Provincial Hospital Services in
Cambodia on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Siem Reap Provincial Hospital. This
ceremony will be presided over by H.E Kim Han Soo, Ambassador of the
Republic of Korea and H.E Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister
for National Defense.
The completion of this project has
produced fruitful outcomes for the improvement of the health and medical
sector in Cambodia. The Maternal Child Medical Center (MCMC) was
constructed while a number of nurses and medical doctors from Siem Reap
Provincial Hospital have been invited to participate in the training in
Korea to improve and strengthen their capacity by learning Korean
expertise and practice.
The Maternal Child Medical Center is
built with three stories in total. All the rooms of each floor have been
designed with specific functions: ICU room, delivery and operation
room, echo room, waiting room, and other rooms with care purposes. More
importantly, every room in the MCMC is provided with modern medical
equipments such as echo machine, sterilizer, scrub station, automatic
infusion pump, and phototherapy equipment. People who live in Siem Reap
Province and nearby regions will benefit from the improved public health
care and facilities.
This great achievement is the result of
the KOICA’s USD 3.3 million grant aid to the Ministry of Health of the
Kingdom of Cambodia as part of its health and medical services program
in Cambodia. In addition to this project, KOICA has been providing other
health related projects to Ministry of Health, including the Project
for the Strengthening Capacity of Batheay Referral Hospital in Batheay
Disctrict, Kampong Cham Province as well as the Project for the
Establishment of Preah Angdoung Eye Hospital in Phnom Penh. This kind of
development cooperation will further improve and strengthen the close
relationship between the two countries.
