The Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of the Republic of Korea signed here yesterday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the project of installation of an Automated Weather Observation System for the forecasting and early warning of natural disasters in Cambodia.
The MoU was inked by H.E. Lim Kean Hor, Cambodian Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, and H.E. Jongseok Kim, Administrator of Korea Meteorological Administration.
Under the project, 27 automated weather stations will be installed in provinces that have not had enough meteorological station to observe the weather in order to get comprehensive data for the research of weather forecast and other purposes.
A number of other meteorological equipment will be set up to support weather forecasts and a natural disaster warning system in Cambodia. Further training will be provided to Cambodian meteorological officers to get more accurate weather forecasting.
