[Brief ODA News: Infrastructure]: China provides
loan US$273 million for nearly-53-kilometre-long Phnom Penh’s Third Ring Road. The
construction of the third ring road from Sangkat Chaom Chau 3, Khan Pursenchey,
Phnom Penh to Dei Edth commune, Kien Svay district, Kandal province began today
(January 14, 2019). Nearly-53-kilometre-long ring road will be built at an
estimated cost of US$273 million under the preferential buyer’s credit loan
from the Government of the People’s Republic of China. The construction will
last for 42 months, and four flyovers and 8 bridges will also be constructed. This
new ring road will play a crucial role in contributing to reducing traffic
congestion in Phnom Penh capital and to facilitating cross-border transport,
boosting international trade and transforming the surrounding area into a
development zone.
