Phnom Penh: The Korea International Cooperation Center (KOICA) together with the Ministry of Education Youth and Sport (MoEYS) celebrated official opening of the Cambodia Korea Cooperation Center (CKCC) at the Royal at Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) on Wednesday, June 12, 2013.The ceremony marked the successful completion of the Project for the Establishment of a Human Resource Development Center in Cambodia by the grant aid of $7.5 million from KOICA.

In recognition of the contribution of the Republic of Korea for this Project, H.E. Im Sethy, Minister of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, awarded H.E. Kim Han Soo, ambassador of the Republic of Korea, with the Grand Cross of Monisaraphon medal at the ceremony.

The CKCC, a 2-story building with modern design, sits on the northwest side of the RUPP campus and will become a symbol of friendship and fruitful cooperation between Cambodia and Korea. It currently houses the Korean Language Department of the RUPP, and will host short-term classes and seminars in ICT, business management and public administration, thereby contributing to developing human resources in Cambodia. The computer lab and conference rooms are equipped with the latest technology. The large library and multimedia room will serve to better educate students. In addition, the CKCC concert hall boasts one of the best lighting and musical effect facilities in Phnom Penh.

KOICA considers human resources development one of its key development cooperation programs in Cambodia. KOICA will begin another project with MoEYS later this year, for developing technical education at upper secondary level.
