This project will increase clean water supply to Siem Reap City by
60,000 cubic meters per day in order to respond to the increasing demand
of water from residents and industries, said the Japanese ambassador.
This is the second project of water supply to Siem Reap by Japanese cooperation after the first project in 2004, he added.
This new project will take water from Tonle Sap Lake instead of
underground water in order to avoid the possibility of negative impact
on world heritage monuments of Angkor. Under the project, water intake
facilities, a water treatment plant and the pipelines of 217 kilometers
for water distribution will be constructed.
