Subject: Ground breaking Ceremony of the Cambodian HRD Center
On December 22, 2011, the ground breaking ceremony of the Cambodian HRD center which is constructed by a grant aid of the Korean government was held at the Royal University of Phnom Penh with participation of around 1,000 persons including H.E. Im Sethy, Minister of Education Youth and Spor, H.E. Chang Hojin, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Dr. Shin EuiCheol, Representative of KOICA Cambodia Office, H.E. Lav Chhiv Eav, Rector of RUPP, related Government officials and RUPP students.
- The Korean government will provide USD 7,450,000 of KOICA grant aid to establish an HRD center aimed at supporting socio-economic development of Cambodia through manpower training and strengthening the capacity of human resources development.
- Through this project, the Korean Government constructs the HRD center and offers a variety of programs such as IT, Korean language etc. which are available to students, teachers, government officers and all Cambodia people.
H.E. Im Sethy said that human resources development is very necessary for socio-economic development and national competitiveness of Cambodia, and he also expected that the HRD center would become a great help for building human resources development system and future industrialization of Cambodia.
H.E Chang Ho Jin emphasized that based on Korea's development experiences, the Korean Government will provide various grant aid in the field of HRD, and hoped that this HRD center would be a good model for human resources & educational development in Cambodia and a landmark of the cooperation of both countries.
