ADB has provided emergency humanitarian assistance of 3 million dollars to work with Cambodia ’s government to respond to the critical needs in the wake of the country’s worst flooding in over decade. "The severe flooding has had a dramatic impact on the livelihoods of the Cambodian population, especially poor farmers in remote areas. Communities are in urgent needs of assistance to reconnect with supply centers and to rebuild their lives." said Peter Brimble, ADB senior country economist in Cambodia . The grant from Asia Pacific Disaster Response Fund will be used to supply rice seed rural households who have lost their crops, along with food and cash for work schemes which allow communities to repair their damaged roads. ADB will also support the temporary repairs to irrigation canals. (Rasmei Kam.)
