Norway contributes over one million dollar to UN- Cambodia Tribunal

PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA, 21 APRIL, 2011-The Government of Norway has confirmed a new contribution of NOK 6,000,000 (approximately US$ 1.1 million) to the international component of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), the statement from the court said on Thursday.
With this latest contribution, Norway has provided financial assistance exceeding US$ 3.9 million to the ECCC. “We are very thankful for the generosity and continuous support offered by Norway. Such support is imperative to ensure that the court can complete its mandate, bringing justice to the Cambodian people and the victims of the Khmer Rouge who have waited for more than 30 years to see justice be done,” said Acting Director of the Office of Administration, H.E. Tony Kranh and Deputy Director Mr. Knut Rosandhaug in a statement. Norway has been supporting the ECCC since the court’s establishment in 2006.
