Korea Starts to Build Last Ring-Road in Siem Reap-Angkor Province

Siem Reap: Korea International Cooperation Agency, known as KOICA corporate with APSARA Authority will launch the Opening Ceremony for the Construction Project of Angkor Ring-Road on Thursday morning, March 17, 2011 at Kork Ta Chan Village, Sangkat Kork Chork, Siem Reap Town.
This Opening Ceremony will be held under the presidency of Mr. Dr. SOK An, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Council of Ministers, and the President of APSARA Authority, and Mr. Chang Ho-Jin, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea.
This Ceremony will be the symbol for stage commencement for the construction of Angkor Ring Road Project which will be complete before 2012 with total amount of 11.5 million US$. This project was proposed by the Royal Government of Cambodia to the Government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA Cambodia Office in order to complement and complete the Angkor Ring Road with total length of 36.5 km by extra construction of asphalt pavement of 21.5 km length, linking Eastern and Western bypass roads with 15 km length, granted by KOICA from 2008 till 2009.
After finishing the construction, this Angkor Ring-Road will play an important role in removing the overload trucks from Angkor Region and Siem Reap Provincial Town. This Ring Road linked to National Road 6 at Svay Thom market, Kandek Commune, Eastern Siem Reap Town, ring to Northern part of Angkor Region with destination to National Road 6, Western part of Siem Reap Town at the point of Krous Primary School, Sangkat Svay Dong Kum. With this Ring-Road, the traffic situation and the environmental pollution in Angkor Region and Siem Reap Provincial Town will become better.
Be reminded that, Presently, KOICA has assisted Cambodian government since 2005, granting Infrastructure Development Project with 3 roads to finish completely the 36.5 km length of Angkor Ring Road in Siem Reap Province with budget 17.4 million US$. The development of potential tourist region is necessary
