The U.S. Government through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) decided to provide funds $56 million for five years to better food security by promoting Agriculture Development and Natural Resource Management. According to the announcement of U.S. Embassy to Cambodia dated on 10 January, 2011, the approval of US government on this contract is the main activity of USAID for food security in Cambodia. As mentioned, Cambodia is one country among 20 priority countries which was supported by the Future Support Project, and is the only one country in Asia which received this support. The investment on the Future Support Project of US government will solve food security issues which include investment on agriculture productivity, trade, market expansion, sharing and managing product resources by using different methods for solving nourishment issue and long term vision to promote the permanent solution for lengthy food security issue. This investment will be planed to closely facilitate with Cambodian government and other development partners to achieve a result on poverty reduction constantly. According to this announcement, the method is to focus on foods of expanding income for people in rural and to strengthen the cost and to support Cambodian agriculture to participate in economic growth with stability and constantly for Cambodia and region.
