KOICA Representative directly visits Integrated Rural Development Project site in Krouch Chhmar District
After the kick-off Seminar of the Implementation of the Integrated Rural Development Project in Krouch Chhmar district, Kampong Cham province on October 6, 2010 at the Ministry of Rural Development under the presidency of H.E. Chea Sophara, Minister of the Ministry of Rural Development, Dr. Shin Eui Cheol, Representative of KOICA Cambodia Office led KOICA delegates and officials related to the project to visit the implementation of the Integrated Rural Development Project on Thursday, October 13, 2010 at the project site.
The visit aims at (1) directly checking the general situation of the project site; (2) teaching the farmers about new technology of tobacco cultivation; (3) visiting the experts in paddy transplantation; and (4) observing training course of Village Development Committee on action-plan in village development which was established related to the project. In addition, Dr. Shin also participated in the handing over ceremony of chemical fertilizer to the chief of Village Development Committee.
After visiting the project site and the general situation of the area, Dr. Shin is strongly interested, and highly appreciated about the process of the implementation of the Integrated Rural Development Project in Krouch Chhmar district. He added that this project has been carried out smoothly since April 2010, and reached the invitation of ten officials related to the project to train in the Republic of Korea on the training course “Integrated Rural Community Development” on October 21, 2010 this week.
At last, Dr. Shin, is optimistic about this project, which will be a model case and methods to alleviate poverty in the rural area of Cambodia, by enhancing the living standard of the local people through the rehabilitation and development of rural infrastructure, community development affairs, water supply, rural healthcare and sanitation, vocational training, capacity building, the preparation of infrastructure in community, research, and income generation through job creation, business and other services in rural area .
Be reminded that, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) signed an agreement with the Ministry of Rural Development of Cambodia to provide grant aid of 2.5 Million USD for the Project of Integrated Rural Development in Krouch Chhmar District on Tuesday, April 6, 2010.
