Phnom Penh: At the night of September 28, 2010, the 28th group of 17 KOVs, 12 females, has successfully arrived at Phnom Penh International Airport.
Mr. Kim Do Hun, Volunteer Program Manager in Cambodia said that this group consists of 7 Korean language teachers, 3 nurses, 1 computer teacher, 3 painting teachers, 1 music teacher, 1 dress-making teacher, and 1 general physical education teacher. They are going to work for 2 years for certain public institutions in the fields of health, vacation education and training, and rural community development in Banteay Meanchey, Takeo, Kampong Cham, Kampot, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Kampong Thom, Pursat, and Phnom Penh. He added that KOICA has plan to dispatch the last 2010 KOV group to Cambodia to respond to the need of human resource support in Cambodia, and the figure of active KOVs in Cambodia will increase to between 90 to 100 by 2010. This will the highest figure since KOICA has started its volunteer program in 2003 in Cambodia.
Since 2003, KOICA has been sending around 240 volunteers to Cambodia; 80 of them are working for certain public institutions in provinces and municipality of Cambodia.
