Over 200 Poor People in Kampong Chhnang Province Get Medical Check-Up and Medicine from KOICA

Kampong Chhnang: The poor people participate in medical check up and receive some gift from KOICA (Photo).

Program Coordinator from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) raised on Tuesday May 2, 2010 that there are at least 216 poor children got charity gifts from KOICA agency through the Cambodia-Korea Alumni Association (CAMKAA).

Mr IN Sovanpol, KOICA Program Coordinator told DAP News that there are at least 216 children participated in free medical check-up and received KOICA’s charity gifts through CAMKAA.

He added that we plan to check up only 100 children, and we are also very proud to have such a lot of people participating like this.

It should be reminded that education program on hygiene and healthcare was organized at Sambour Meas Primary School, Cherng Kreav Commune, Ro-Lea Phar-Ear District, Kampong Chhnang Province led by Prof. Chhour Y Meng, CAMKAA President as well as Director of NPH, CAMKAA Board Members, doctors and medical staff from National Pediatric Hospital, and KOICA delegation especially Mr. Son Sung-il, Deputy Representative of KOICA Cambodia office.

After check-up of children disease, doctors and medical staff give good recommendation about healthcare, hygiene and provide medicine, some soap, toothpastes and toothbrushes to their families with free of charge and we can notice that 80% of the participants can get good knowledge to prevent disease infection as well. Amongst 216 children, they come from 8 different villages. Most of them is lack in healthcare knowledge and money for medical treatment.

According to the survey of 8 villages in Cherng Kreav Commune, Ro-Lea Phar-Ear District, Kampong Chhnang Province, people have a lot of problems related to daily health. Doctors found that most of them suffering from intestinal parasite, anemia, pharyngitis, scabies and furunculosis.

It should be noticed that charity gifts under the support and cooperation with CAMKAA and related institution, KOICA agency focuses mainly on healthcare of the poor people.

Mr. Hort Sreou, KOICA Program Officer said that KOICA has 4 significant projects to support the development in Cambodia such as Health, Infrastructure, Agriculture and Education sectors. Anyways, there are other small projects which are the strategies of KOICA.
