Phnom Penh: The program officer of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) told DAP News last Thursday, 06 May, 2010 that KOICA will reinforce its cooperation with the Ministry of Health by constructing a mother and child medical center in Siem Reap provincial hospital.
Mr. Hort Sroeu, program officer of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) told DAP News that “KOICA will support health service to Siem Reap provincial hospital for two years”.
Mr. Hort Sroeu also confirmed that “the fist objective of the project is to improve the capacity of medical services in Siem Reap provincial hospital by establishing a mother and child medical center and providing training to doctors and nurses”.
He went on to say that “another objective of this project is to strengthen the public health sector of Cambodia by applying Korean expertise and practices to Cambodia”.
Please be reminded that last April 2010, KOICA provided 200,000 USD of medical equipment to the National Pediatric Hospital (NPH) for strengthening capacity of medical doctors in that hospital.
Mr. Hort Sroeu also deeply confirmed that KOICA cooperated with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Rural Development and other line ministries in Cambodia in order to get more development for Cambodian people.
The same program officer also informed that last April 2010, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) signed an agreement to provide 2.5 million USD to the Ministry of Rural Development to implement one project for 2 years for improving the living of people in Krouch Chhmar district of Kampong Cham province.
