National Pediatric Hospital Receives Medical Equipment from KOICA

Phnom Penh Municipality: Last 27 April 2010, National Pediatric Hospital received 32 items of medical equipment from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) with total amount of 200.000 USD.
Mr. Kim Byung gwan, Resident Representative of KOICA to Cambodia said that “on behalf of KOICA Cambodia office, I’m delighted to participate in the hand-over ceremony of the medical equipment to the NPH of Cambodia.
Since 1990s KOICA provided support to development programs in Cambodia and among those supports the building of hospital for children was one of the most valuable projects to enhance children’s health and also one of the priorities to the government of Cambodia. KOICA constructed Cambodia-Korea Friendship Building in the National Pediatric Hospital in making significant contribution to the government effort, aiming at achieving the Cambodian millennium development goals (CMDGs) by reducing infant mortality rate as well as raising quality of medical treatment to the NPH.
Mr. Kim added that he hoped that that medical equipment helped medical staff of NPH to enforce their duty effectively.
Prof. CHHOUR Y Meng, Director of NPH said that KOICA always provided both spirit and equipment to the NPH. Cambodia-Korea Friendship Building was received in 2007 and was inaugurated by Samdech HUN SEN. Not only the building, but also KOICA provided scholarship to hospital’s staff to study in the Republic of Korea.
Prof. CHHOUR Y Meng added that KOICA always provided equipment coherently to support the process related to medical science. Anyways, Today KOICA provided medical equipment with total amount 200.000USD. Prof. Chhour Y Meng expressed his gratefulness to KOICA Cambodia office that always paid attention and provided medical equipment to the NPH to help Cambodian children in the period of equipment shortages.
