KOICA Provides 2,200,000 USD to Industry Ministry on Solar Hybrid Power (Micro-Air Turbine) System

Phnom Penh: The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on Janauary 22, 2010 has signed agreement with the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy to provide grant aid on “Solar Hybrid Power (Micro-Air Turbine) system for Koh Sla village in Kampot province and Phnom Kulen in Siem Reap, where most of villagers (about 700 families) are handicappped armies.
At the signing ceremony, H.E. Dr. Sat Samy, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy said that KOICA provided grant aid 2,200,000 USD for implementing the project for three (3) years, from 2009 to 2011 aiming at supporting the Royal Government’s effort on rural electricity plan under the right leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen. Enhance the capacity for using renewable energy system for staff and officials in the Ministry and other concerned organizations. Improve the condition of Cambodian people and contribute to their economic development by providing secure and sustainable clean energy. This was one part of constributing to the rural development on electricity which was the commitment of royal governement’s strategies to implement. By the year 2020, Cambodian people will have eletricity every house in the nationwide.
