Phnom Penh: The government of the Republic of Korea provided grant aid of $2.5 million US to the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction to implement the project for two years, 2010-2011.
At the temporary cabinet office of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction on December 17, 2009, there was a signing ceremony on the Record of Discussions and Terms of Reference to implement the project of “Production of the National Base Map and the Establishment of the Master Plan for the National Spatial Data Infrastructure in Cambodia”. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Kim Byung-gwan, Representative of KOICA Cambodia Office of the Republic of Korea and Mr. Sar Sovann, General Director of General Department of Cadastre and Geography of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction and with the high presence of H.E. Im Chhunlim, Senior Minister and Minister of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction.
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Sar Sovann thanked the Korean government who provided grant aid as new project to establish the master plan for National Base Map in 3 places of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Preahsihanu province. He further to say that “there will be Establishment of the Master Plan for the National Spatial Data Infrastructure in Cambodia”
He continued to say that Korea already provided geodetic ground control points to develop our country, especially on the Geographical Information System (GIS) and Land Management, Cadastre and Construction to be well effectiveness and accurateness.
Mr. Kim Byung-gwan, Representative of KOICA Cambodia Office stated that “this grant aid is to assist the Minisry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction to establish the National Base Map and establish of the Master Plan for the National Spatial Data Infrastructure in Cambodia to be better.
He continued to say that Korea and Cambodia continue to be enhanced on the partnership and cooperation in order to assist Cambodia’s socio-economic development.
