“More Korean Doctors Arrive in Cambodia”
2 doctors were dispatched by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) through Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Ministry of Health of Cambodia. Since 2003, 35 Korean volunteers in the field of medical service 28 nurses and 7 doctors were sent to various governmental institutions in provinces and city of Cambodia, ranging from national hospitals to local health centers. Those volunteers are not just part of KOICA’s human resource development program in Cambodia, but are active agents to tighten the relationship between the two countries by exchanging cultures and understanding between the people of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Korea.

On August 13, 2009, Mr.Hor Namhong, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation signed an agreement with Mr. Shinohara Katsuhiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cambodia to receive US$72 million in loan from Japan for the implementation of the Sihanoukville Port Multipurpose Terminal Development Project; and signed an agreement to receive Grant Aid of up to US$10,000,000, from Japan for the promotion of the economic and social development efforts in Cambodia.
