KOICA Provide People in Tangkorsang Commune with 3 Community Roads
Kampong Cham: Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) provided a gift of three 1,552-metter-long community roads to Cambodian people in Kvet village, Tang Krosang commune, Batheay district, Kampong Cham province.
These roads were inaugurated on May 22, 2009 with the participation from H.E Ouch Borith, secretary of state of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Mr. Son Sung Il, deputy representative of Korea International Cooperation Agency of the Republic of Korea.
With the participation of Korea Overseas Volunteer and so many other local people, Mr. Lor Chan Ly, governor of Batheay district stated that these 3 community roads cost 7,522 USD. KOICA not only provided these roads, but also 2 plowing machines, and 7 clean water wells with the total cost of 15,690 USD. At the same time, KOICA also provided 94 (45 female) village children with Korean language education program to be able to read and write. The Korean language education has already been set up for 2 classes in Tang Krosang commune.
According to H.E Hor Nam Hong, deputy prime minister, this is the second step that KOICA helps people in Batheay district. In the first step, KOICA helped develop 2 communes, Chba Ampov and Sambo commune, to develop several activities such as building community roads, veterinary facility, providing on pig raising training and mushroom horticulture, construction clean water wells, providing material for organizing wedding or ceremony including one truck, building village office, construction of water reservoir, and providing of plowing machine and rice reaper machine.
Because the village study Korean language very well, Mr. Son Song Il said that he wants to build one university building to provide not only Korean language education, but also other skills like computer, machinery, TV repairing (electronic), and other vocational trainings, hoping that the people can earn their living from this skill after they graduate from the school.
Regarding this issue, H.E Ouch Bith will consider and coordinate with local authority and people to find proper location for the building.
