A voluntary programme organsed by the Ho Chi Minh City Communist Youth Union (HCYU) is to kick off in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in early August.
An agreement to the plan was signed by HCYU Deputy Secretary Tang Huu Phong and Vice Governor of Phnom Penh Mom Sarin in the Cambodian capital city on July 11.
Under the plan, between August 1-6, about 40 HCYU volunteers studying or working in the medical sector, will work in co-ordination with the Phnom Penh Youth Union to provide free check-ups, treatment and medicine to 2,000 poor people in four communes in the outskirts of Phnom Penh.
They will also help poor Cambodian patients get free heart surgery in Ho Chi Minh City and open a training course on skills to organise activities for between 100-150 Phnom Penh Youth Union staff.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City’s Youth Union will organise a seminar to boost the development of the two countries’ enterprises. The seminar is expected to draw 50 businessmen from Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh.
They also plans to visit and present 500 gifts to overseas Vietnamese in Cambodia and poor Phnom Penh residents. Speaking at the July 11 working session, Vice Governor Mom Sarin expressed his thanks to the HCYU for its initiative to organise voluntary activities in Cambodia and said he considered it a practical and significant gesture in symbolising advanced co-operation between the two cities’ leaders.
He added that Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh should further strengthen co-operation activities and exchanges to continue to foster the friendship and solidarity between the youth and people of the two cities.
On the same day, the HCYU delegation met with the President of the Cambodian Youth Association, Men Kuon, and visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia. (VNA) |
