Phnom Penh, 4th March 2013:
Upon the request from Cambodia and the
effectiveness of Korea Oversea Volunteer-KOV program, Republic of Korea
dispatches a new team of volunteer called “The Dream Volunteer”. They
will fulfill their humanitarian mission for 6 months under facilitation
of KOV Program of Korea International Cooperation Agency-KOICA Cambodia
Office. They arrived in Phnom Penh International Airport at night of 28th Feb, 2014.
Mr. Hong Soon Seung, KOV Program Manager
said that this team consists of 4 volunteers who are skillful of
Computer training and ICT. They will be officially dispatched to work at
Hun Sen Krong Tep Nimet high school in Pailin Province to teach student
and provide technical training to existing computer local teachers.
He adds that from now on, they will
participate in Local Adjustment Training Program in Phnom Penh for 2
months which include conducting On the Job Training and doing home stay
with local people. This program focuses on intensive Khmer language
training, attaining necessary information on Cambodian’s life, and
understanding socioeconomic, cultural and political situation in
Cambodia. This activity will help them easily adapt to their working
environment in the localities during their mission.
He emphasizes that KOV Program is a
humanitarian program of Republic of Korea that provides technical
assistance through dispatching Korean national volunteer to 46 partner
countries all over the world for the purpose of sharing expertise,
knowledge and experience to make practical contributions for
socioeconomic development.
Remarkably, since 2003 more than 300
volunteers are dispatched through KOICA to work in Cambodia in
significant fields such as Education, Health, and Rural Development and
they achieved many remarkable outcomes and impacts. Currently, there are
many kinds of volunteer in Cambodia such as General Volunteer, Senior
volunteer, International Cooperation Doctor, University volunteer and
Dream volunteer who totally 72 volunteers and they are actively working
in Cambodia
