ADB claimed to provide a loan of 55 million USD in order to support Cambodia’s rice sector on 27 June 2013. The aim of the loan is to help transform the rice sector of Cambodia into a viable commercial industry as well as taking care of the land and water resources. This is the project helping Cambodian farmers in promoting quantity and quality of paddy so as to boost rice export and improve access to regional and international rice markets as well as national and household food security and improve income of participants and rice export production. Besides, this project will benefit to some provinces including Battambang, Kompong Thom and Prey Veng, the largest rice producing provinces in the country, said Mr. Bui Minh Giap, Natural Resources and Agriculture Economist in ADB.
