Penh: The Korea International
Cooperation Agency (KOICA), together with APSARA Authority, will hold the Inauguration
Ceremony for the Completion of the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Road (or Korean
Ring Road Construction Phase II) on December 15, 2012 in Siem Reap province.
According to a press release issued by KOICA on
December 11, 2012 that the Ring Road was the output of KOICA’s $11.5 Million
grant fund to APSARA Authority of the Kingdom of Cambodia, as part of a program
to develop physical infrastructure in Cambodia with the aim to help the
Cambodian government’s efforts to protect Angkor-Wat by easing and dispersing
traffic on the road penetrating the historic sites of the world heritage. This
project will also further blossom into one of the most exemplary cooperation
programs symbolizing the two countries’ friendship through the good cooperation
between the APSARA Authority of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the KOICA.
The same press release also stated that H.E. Mr. Park
Dae-Won, President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), will
be the Guest of Honor in the Ceremony for the Completion of the Cambodia-Korea
Friendship Road, as he is visiting Cambodia Dec. 13-15 to broadly assess
Korea’s development cooperation activities in Cambodia and further strengthen
the bilateral ties.
Other dignitaries to grace the event include H.E. Dr.
Sok An, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister in charge of the Office of the Council
of Ministers and the President of APSARA Authority; H.E. Mr. Sou Phirin, Advisor
to Samdech Akkak Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of the
Kingdom of Cambodia and the Governor of Siem Reap Province and Vice president
of APSARA Authority; H.E. Mr. Bun Narith, the Director General of APSARA
Authority; and KOICA Representative in Cambodia Dr. Shin Eui-Cheol. /End/
