Cambodian
government and UNESCO have reached an agreement on safeguarding of Angkor Wat-
Phase II. Under this program, Italy will provide US$200,000 through UNESCO coupled
with Cambodian government’s budget of US$50,000 through Apsara National
Authority. Italian experts from University of Palermo will be responsible for the
staircase maintenance. The agreement was inked yesterday morning by DPM Sok An,
Minister in charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers and UNESCO’s
Representative Ms. Anne Lemaistre. (Rasmei Kam.)
