Phnom
Penh, 3 July 2012: Upon
the request from Cambodian Government, 16 more Korea Overseas Volunteers has
been dispatched to Cambodia on July 2, 2012 under the coordination of Korea
International Cooperation Agency office (KOICA) in Cambodia.
All of the volunteers have their 2-year
mission to work for Cambodian governmental institutions to share their
expertise, knowledge, and experiences in order to make practical contributions
to socio-economic development in Cambodia. According to KOICA office in Phnom
Penh, the 16 volunteers including 13 females and 3 males specialize in such
fields as Engineering, Science, Community development, Art, Music, Health
care/Nurse, and Korean language.
After 2 months of local training program
in Phnom Penh, they will officially start their work in provinces such as
Banteay Meanchhey, Mondolkiri, Pailin, Battambong, Kompong Thom, Prey Veng,
Pusat, Svay Reing, Takeo, Stung Treng Province and Phnom Penh city. This training
program focuses on intensive Khmer language training, and getting such
necessary information as Cambodian’s life, socioeconomic, cultural and
political situation in Cambodia. And this program will help them to easily adapt
to their working environment in the localities for 2 years.
Be noted that since 2003, KOICA which is
a Korean government’s agency, has been dispatching over 300 Korean volunteers
to work in certain strategic sectors like education, health, and rural
development in Cambodia, which is part of its grand aid program for
socio-economic development cooperation in Cambodia.
