Phnom Penh:
Upon the request from Cambodia, the Government of Republic of Korea
will provide the grant aid of 2 million USD through Korea International
Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in assisting Cambodia to establish the master
plan for the project for Cambodia’s information and communication
technology (ITC) Master Plan with the aim to promote the e-government,
e-economy and e-education for the country as well as to improve the
capacity building for the Cambodian officials on ICT sector.
In line
with the requesting from the Cambodian government, the project is aiming
to establish the ICT Master Plan to contribute to the sustainable
socioeconomic development of Cambodia through improving informatization
status. Consequently, this project is estimated to take 18 months for
the completion after the Record Discussion has been signed.
Within
this duration, the Government of Republic of Korea will dispatch a group
of Korean ITC experts to Cambodia to work and share their experiences
with relevant officials in establishing the legal framework as well as
legal institution in order to build the effective ICT infrastructure and
industry in Cambodia. In addition, a numbers of qualified Cambodian
officials will be invited to train and study in Korea in order to
improve the quality and quantity of Cambodian human resource on ICT
sector.
In this
regard, the Record Discussion of the project for Cambodia’s Information
and Communication Technology (ICT) Master Plan was signed by KOICA with
the Council of Minister on July 27th, 2012 at the Office of Council of
Minister, Phnom Penh to initiate the project implementation phase in
which NiDA is the implementation partner of the project.
