AKP Phnom Penh, July 31, 2012 –
The Government of Japan yesterday provided some ¥1,510 million,
equivalent to US$19 million, to the Royal Government of Cambodia for
Disaster Rehabilitation and Mitigation Project, according to a press
release.
The grant agreement was signed here yesterday by H.E. Keat Chhon,
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance and Mr. Suzuki
Yasujiro, Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation
Agency (JICA) Cambodia Office after both governments signed the notes
exchange in Tokyo in April, it said.
According to the press release, the Disaster Rehabilitation and
Mitigation Project is aimed to rehabilitate eight bridges along the
National Road No. 11 and improve roads and drainage system in Kampong
Chhnang province that were damaged by the flood last year.
On the occasion, H.E. Keat Chhon expressed profound thanks to Japan
for its assistance to Cambodia, saying that Japan is a leading
development partner of Cambodia.
