Cambodian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International
Cooperation H.E. Mrs. Sun Saphoeun this morning met with outgoing
Ambassador of Belgium to Cambodia H.E. Rudi Veestraeten.
In the farewell meeting, H.E. Rudi Veestraeten said Belgium will
donate some 1.5 million euros for mine clearance in Cambodia, and
pledged to encourage more Belgian tourists and investors to Cambodia.
For her part, H.E. Mrs. Sun Saphoeun expressed profound thanks to
Belgium for its development assistance to Cambodia, especially in the
fields of health, education, mine clearance, and the Khmer Rouge
trials.
H.E. Mrs. Sun Saphoeun also requested Belgium’s support for
Cambodia’s candidacy as a non-permanent member of the United Nations
Security Council (UNSC) for the 2013-2014 mandate.
