Japanese government awarded
PH-Japan US$121,828 to support the community project of maternal and child
health care in Kampong Thom (Phase II). The signing ceremony was held 25 June
2012 at Embassy of Japan by Masafumi Kuruki, Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia,
and Ms. Kume Yumiko, PH-Japan’s representative. The Ambassador said the aid
provision in health sector especially for the promotion of maternal and child
health care is vitally important and highly appreciated in economic field since
it is like the investment in child who will become the future leader of the
society. Japanese government, he added, has made contribution to the
enhancement of mother and child health care in Cambodia through health
structure reform, human resource development and even the construction of
Japan’s grant-aided maternal and child health care centre, which could help
lower mortality rate of mother and child and better their health condition in
recent years. This new aid project will further continue the reform activities,
and 47,000 regional peoples are expected to be the beneficiaries of knowledge
in maternal and child health care and hygienic issue. (Rasmei Kam.)
