Phnom Penh:
The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Office of
the Council of Ministers (OCM) launched a signing ceremony on Record of
Discussions (R/D) for the project “The Establishment of Civil Aviation
Training Center (CATC) in Cambodia” on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the
Office of the Council of Ministers.
The Record of Discussions (R/D) has been signed by H.E. Dr. Sok An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers, and Ms. Baek Sook Hee, Representative of KOICA Cambodia Office with the participation of KOICA delegates and OCM’s officials.
The
objective of this project is (1) contribute to the sustainable
socioeconomic development of the Royal Government of Cambodia through
the establishment of the Civil Aviation Training Center and related
capacity building programs to ensure safe, secure, efficient, quality
and cost-effective international and domestic air transportation
services in keeping with international standards; and (2)improve the
quality and quantity of human resources and institutional capabilities
for the effective management of Civil Aviation sector in the Kingdom of
Cambodia.
The
project will be implemented for a period of four years (2013-2017) based
on the Framework Arrangement on Grant Aid which formalized the approval
of the project on the part of Korean government. The Civil Aviation
Training Center (CATC) will be constructed within the Phnom Penh
International Airport. The Korean government provided grant aid
equivalent to ten million and one hundred thousand United States dollars
(USD10,100,000) for construction of the Civil Aviation Training Center
(CATC), establishment of the civil aviation HRD master plan of Cambodia,
dispatch of Korean experts to Cambodia, invitation of training in
Korea, and provision of equipment.
