Sweden Grants Almost US$60 Million to Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, September 05, 2012 —
The Government of Sweden has announced to provide some US$59.4
million in aid to the Royal Government of Cambodia to strengthen human
resource development and to cope with climate change.
The grant aid agreement was inked here this morning by H.E. Keat
Chhon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, and
H.E. Ms. Anne Hoglung, Ambassador of Sweden to Cambodia at the Council
for the Development of Cambodia.
On the occasion, H.E. Keat Chhon said the grant aid will support
prioritized sectors in Cambodia including democratic development, human
rights, education, and climate change for 2012-2013.
“I believe that this financial assistance will contribute to the
sustainable development and economic growth in Cambodia,” he said.
For her part, H.E. Ms. Anne Hoglung said this grant aid will help
strengthen human resource development, human rights respect and
environmental protection in Cambodia as well as the bilateral ties
between the two countries.
